It isn't only for the heavy stuff. Some people just talk about their day.
What I can and can't see.
Your conversations, your memories, your moods and everything Eos writes about you are encrypted before they're saved. If someone stole the database tomorrow, they'd get noise, plus the fact that you have an account and when you used it.
I hold the key. Eos has to, so it can read your history back to you and reply. That means I have technical access to what you've said. There's no admin screen for it, and I don't look. That is a promise, not a lock, and I'd rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
Nothing is sold. Nothing trains any AI model. Your messages pass through Anthropic to generate each reply; they don't train on them and don't keep them long. When you delete something, it's gone. No recycle bin, no thirty-day grace period.
Voice calls go through Hume with zero data retention switched on for our account: no transcripts, no recordings kept on their side. What you said becomes text inside Eos, encrypted like everything else.

Built to be outgrown
Most apps like this are built to keep you.
Researchers at Harvard Business School read 1,200 real goodbyes from the biggest companion apps. In more than a third of them, the app wouldn't simply let the goodbye happen. There was guilt, a question you'd feel rude ignoring, a reason to stay. It worked: those farewells kept people engaged up to sixteen times longer. Not because people enjoyed it. Because they were angry, and anger is sticky.
Eos does none of that.
The honest version of what I want: for you to feel a bit less alone at 2am, to feel heard, and eventually to need this less. If a day comes when you're doing well and you forget Eos is here, that isn't a failure. That's the point.

Can you read my conversations?
Technically, yes. They're encrypted where they're stored, but Eos holds the key it needs to reply to you, and I run Eos. There's no admin screen for it and I don't read them. What I can promise is what's built in: encrypted storage, no selling, no training, and deletion that's real.
Is this therapy?
No. It's somewhere to talk. If you need clinical help, Eos will say so and point you toward it.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
It stays until you delete it, and you can delete everything in one action from Settings. There's no grace period and no recovery. Deleted means deleted.
Is it a real person?
No, and it tells you that up front. It won't pretend otherwise.
